Castaway Café is a hidden treasure tucked away on the northwest shore on one of Maui's finest beaches
- Kaanapali Beach. Fronting the shimmering Pacific and surrounded by palms and sea grape trees, Castaway
Café is a treasure chest filled with culinary jewels at attractive prices.
Since 1994 the Castaway Crew has worked hard to create a relaxed and casual atmosphere for your dining
pleasure. The restaurant's beachfront location, between the pools and the ocean, offers one of the best
sunset views looking west towards the Islands of Molokai and Lanai. Castaway's is an ideal place for
an early morning breakfast, a relaxed afternoon lunch, or a sunset cocktail and dinner.
The Castaway Café serves American cuisine with island flair.
Their specialties include coconut shrimp, Panang Seafood Curry, loaded with seafood and simmered in
spicy Thai curry with coconut milk, calamari served with lemon-garlic aioli, and South of the Border
Quesadillas, a dried tomato tortilla stuffed with chicken, black beans and cheddar cheese. Dinner prices
are exceptionally reasonable, ranging from $12.95 to $19.95, and two pupus (appetizers) and
dinner specials are offered nightly. Every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. is two-for-one Pasta Night
(with seven famous sauces to choose from).
Castaway Café's extensive wine list won the Wine Spectator "Award of Excellence" in 1998 for having
"one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world!" That's the world, mind you!
Wine connoisseurs can order from the Castaway Café Cellar Collections with wines from small boutique
wineries. Prices range from $15.50 to $146.50 a bottle. Sample wines include: La Terres Chardonnay,
Edna Vaddy Chardonnay, Raymond Estates Chardonnay.
Their "Wine Samplers", three 3-ounce glasses of various wines served for only $5.75, allow the
experienced wine drinker a chance to try wines from various wine makers, and the novice a chance to taste
the difference between the wines.
