Aston's Million Miles Sweepstakes Winner Revealed
HONOLULU, HI (August 1, 2011) – An unexpected knock on the door often brings whimsical thoughts of “I wonder who that is?” “Could it be the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition folks? Or maybe it’s the Publishers Clearing House team with a really big check?”
For Matthew Jeong, a Davis, Calif., resident, the recent knock on the door brought him something equally exciting: one million (1,000,000) HawaiianMiles! Jeong’s name was selected in Aston’s Million Miles Sweepstakes.
Miles won during promotion will be added to Jeong’s HawaiianMiles account and may be used toward anything in the HawaiianMiles redemption program, including flights to any destination serviced by Hawaiian Airlines and its partners.
“My first thought,” says winner Jeong, “was, wow! I never thought people ever won these drawings! I thought there might be some kind of phantom winner.” Jeong says his mother entered online first, then hit the referral button for him to enter. “I saw it and didn’t do anything for a week or two, I was just so busy. Then it popped up on my email again and I thought, wow this is almost over. I am so glad I entered!”
What will he do with his miles? “I looked at all the Hawaiian Airlines destinations. My younger sister has always wanted to go to Australia. I might take her. And, I have always wanted to go to Japan.”
Jeong and his family make yearly trips to Hawaii. He says they really enjoy staying at the Aston Pacific Monarch and Aston at the Waikiki Banyan because both properties offer the convenience of a condominium resort with full kitchens. His favorite Hawaii food is a plate lunch from Rainbow Drive Inn and just about anything from Leonard’s Bakery.
He is a graduate of the University of California at Davis in bio-chemistry, and has an internship in cancer research. He is currently applying to medical schools. “Having time and miles to travel before med school will be great,” he says.
“We were pleased and amazed at the response to our contest,” said Kelvin Bloom, president, Aston Hotels & Resorts. “The excitement created by this contest is a positive reflection of our enthusiastic base of guests, plus the new Aston fans we gained through the web and social media marketing of the contest.”
In addition to the grand prize winner, three first place prizes each were awarded five night hotel accommodations at one of Aston’s Oahu resorts. These prizes are valued at $3,000 each. The first place prize winners were informed of the good news in their home states of California, Oregon, and Hawaii.
