Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages Recognized as 2010 Editor’s Pick for Best Romantic Resort from TravelAge West
HONOLULU, HI (March 4, 2010) – Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages has been honored with a 2010 Editor’s Pick Award in the category of Best Resort for a Romance Vacation in Hawaii as part of the TravelAge West WAVE (Western Agents’ Vote of Excellence) Awards.
Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages provides a nostalgic glimpse into life in Hawaii during the sugar-plantation era, located miles from any other resort on Kaua‘i. Set amidst a 27-acre coconut grove, Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages is a tranquil getaway, fronted by a black sand beach and featuring spectacular grove and ocean views.
This oceanfront resort was created from restored historic sugar plantation homes updated with modern conveniences and furnishings. The individual cottages offer fully equipped kitchens, ample space, and front porches overlooking beautiful lawns and gardens. Guests are able to relax in comfort, pick fruit and flowers from the gardens, or read a book in a hammock. Other activities include volleyball on the beach, ping-pong, croquet, beachfront yoga and horseshoes.
At the end of the day, guests can dine at the recently-opened “The Grove Café at Waimea Brewing Company” which features cuisine and décor influenced by Hawaii’s plantation era as well as an on-site brewery. Other amenities include free parking, Wi-Fi service, a conference room, wedding gardens, as well as The Hideaway Spa, which offers scrubs and wraps custom made on Kauai with local ingredients.
Now in its fifth year, the goal of TravelAge West’s WAVE Awards is to give travel agents in the Western U.S. the opportunity to recognize the outstanding qualities and services of their travel-supplier partners.
The Editor’s Picks were chosen by Editor-in-Chief Ken Shapiro and the entire editorial team of TravelAge West. Review methods included product analysis, on-site visits, a survey of a select group of travel agents and online research.
In addition to this distinction, Editor’s Pick honorees are also in the running for a WAVE Award to be determined by a TravelAge West readers’ choice poll conducted during the month of April. Voting is open to readers of the publication, as well as to all visitors to the magazine’s Web site, TravelAgeWest.com.
Editor’s Pick recipients will be celebrated at the WAVE Awards gala dinner on June 10, 2010, at the Four Seasons Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, Calif., where the readers’ choice winners will also be announced. TravelAge West will produce a special WAVE Awards Spotlight Issue due out in August 2010, highlighting each nominated company.
